What Drives Delivery Pricing
Material type
Standard products like crusher run and fill sand are competitively priced and widely stocked. Specialty materials — decorative river rock, specific gradations, or rip rap in large sizes — cost more because fewer suppliers carry them and they may travel further.
Quantity
Bulk orders reduce the per-yard cost. A full tandem load (10–14 yards) is more efficient than a partial load. If you need 8 yards, you're paying for a truck either way — sometimes ordering 10 makes more sense economically.
Delivery distance
Every kilometre between the pit and your job site costs fuel and driver time. Orders delivered within 30 km of a supplier sit at the low end of the price range. Remote sites or areas far from active pits will be higher.
