Pit run is raw, unprocessed aggregate taken directly from the source with no crushing, screening, or washing. You get whatever the pit produces — a mix of gravel, sand, silt, and sometimes clay. It is the lowest-cost aggregate for projects where engineering specifications are not required: rough grading, raising elevation, backfilling large excavations, and building temporary access roads.
