Rip Rap
Also known as: riprap, armour rock, armour stone, erosion rock, shoreline rock, bank rock, slope protection rock
Heavy, angular rock sized for erosion control and shoreline stabilisation.
Rip rap is large, angular rock placed to armour slopes, shorelines, and channels against water erosion. The size you need depends on the flow velocity and slope grade — steeper slopes and faster water require larger stone. Properly placed rip rap interlocks under its own weight and resists displacement from wave action, runoff, and ice.
